Richland Rum Earns Silver In Tokyo
After an understandable hiatus of international spirits tasting competitions in 2020, the first half of 2021 has seen a number of prestigious councils reopen their panels for entry and judging. Of those, the “Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition” (TWSC) is one of the most highly acclaimed, as it is the only competition that judges international spirits for their appeal to the delicately attuned tastes of the Japanese spirits aficionado. Each of the approximately 200 judges on the TWSC panel are international spirits experts and this year they received upwards of 1000 entries in the categories of Rum, Whisky, Tequila, Gin, Brandy, and Other Spirits.
On May 17th, it was announced that Richland Rum had received a TWSC Silver Medal amongst all spirits entered. As there were no specific categories, this is a tremendous honor with Richland Rum being held among some of the elite Whiskeys, Bourbons, Scotches, Cognacs and other Rums of the world. Richland Rum was one of only 14 prestigious Rums to earn a silver medal, standing alongside historically renowned selections such as “Flor De Can 25 Year Old”, “Mount Gay XO Triple Cask Blend”, and “Compagnie Des Indes Venezuela 14 Years Old”.
With the tasting being judged specifically for the palettes of the Japanese spirits drinker, this is a testament to Richland Rum’s dynamic and diverse profile and validates its global appeal. Richland Rum’s international acclaim owes much to the standards of the Richland Rum Making Process, which requires that each step in the process meticulously adheres to traditional and proven rum making methods; this attention to detail is rewarded by not only the judgment of international spirits councils, but also by adept Richland Rum patrons.
We owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to Paul Flint, who is the Representative Director of “Premium Beverages Inc” which has been distributing Richland Rum in Japan since 2016.
We are honored to have received this 2021 Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition Silver Medal; thank you to all the judges who dedicated their expertise in the tasting, and congratulations to all the other medal winners and entrants!
